AccessibiliT3
Helping designers make accessible websites.
Overview
In many cases, workers are thrown into jobs without having all the necessary skills to complete tasks defined by their role. The task for this project was to build an experience that can train employees at your job how to do a specific tasks.

The Problem
Oftentimes designers don’t know how to make an ADA Compliant Website. This results in errors being fixed once everything has been completed.
Understanding the Problem
To get to the root of the issue I created a Process Map to pinpoint my target player and the action I want to solve for.
Interviews
Paul - Associate Developer
I don’t know anything about ADA compliance but I know it’s important
It results in me redoing work if I haven’t dev’d something correctly
I use this google chrome plugin to check to see if I’m compliant before I give it to QA
Teach me
Kourtney - Visual Designer
I just google every time I need to know something. Idk.
I’m not sure if what I’m doing is actually right or if I’m just making it worse.
Idk what the best tools are to check to see if what I’ve designed are compliant
Johnathan - Project Manager
Someone should do a training on this
Get really complicated with the bigger sites
Idk what idk
I’m not sure how to talk about it with clients
Jessica - Associate Visual Designer
I don’t know much of anything about ADA compliance
At my old agency we never did anything about ADA compliance
I didn’t know I had to do that before I started the {redacted} project
There’s so many rules
Sketching a Solution
The Solution
Ultimately, I created a guided experience that acts as a checklist for all the various rules for ADA Compliance. Because this was a User Experience class, we did not add the final UI to the design.
What People Are Saying
“Such a dope idea and wonderfully executed. Clear and concise”
— Assc. Visual Designer
“ADA shouldn’t be a checkbox, it should be a lens. I do think, however, that this is a good way to get people to learn the actual guidelines”
— UX Designer
““We probably actually really need this like yesterday””
— UX Designer
“It looks like you might have it under the team dropdown but it would be awesome to be able to categorize by role (writer, VD, all). Not sure if this applies for design but at least for copy it might be good to be able to do these check offs for each page of the project”
— Copywriter
